Greta Van Susteren, then host of the Fox News Channel program “On the Record,” was a frequent traveling companion of Franklin Graham on trips for Samaritan’s Purse, the charity he leads. The link between the two is long-standing and publicly documented.

The host and the charity

Samaritan’s Purse reported that Graham, Van Susteren and her husband, John Coale, saw Samaritan’s Purse projects and beneficiaries in Southeast Asia. The charity’s account of the trip described visits to two remote Cambodian villages.

Graham has described the couple as friends. In 2016, Gospel Herald reported that he congratulated Van Susteren on being included on the Forbes list of the World’s 100 Most Powerful Women for the sixth time. The same outlet reported that in March the pair traveled alongside Graham to Myanmar.

Van Susteren’s career at the time

Van Susteren’s Fox News program ran for 14 years, from 2002 to 2016, according to a Wikipedia summary. Forbes ranked her 99th on its 2015 list of powerful women and 94th in 2016.
